I am a freelance writer who will be 63 this year, although most days I still feel 30 and usually act 12. Aging is a state of mind . . . I refuse to grow up. If you grow up, you get old and I don't want to be old..
My husband is a carpenter/contractor. I have two daughters. Mystique age 41, is the Community Editor at the Wisconsin Rapids Daily Tribune, but she puts together a page for three other area newspapers as well. Her husband works from home and they have three children, Alexander-17, Nicholas-14, and Elizabeth Autumn-11. My youngest daughter, Chrystique, is 35. You can find out more about all of us on the Family News page.
I have held a wide variety of jobs, starting when I moved to Chicago after high school graduation at age 17. Until nine years ago, when I decided to "retire" and try my hand at writing for a living, I was a secretary for 12+ years at a local home health agency. Since then, I have been doing freelance writing for the local newspaper and other publications and magazines. I put in up to three days a week covering stories, writing them, and even taking the photos for them. I have segued into mostly historical features, which I prefer to do, and am enjoying it. I published my first book in 2009 and am currently compiling two more books for publication.
Believe it or not, I also work on business and personal computers which due to a variety of reasons need cleaned up, reformatted, or just properly set up. I enjoy the computer work and the challenge of keeping up on the latest tech talk. I have pretty much ran out of time for everything though, so this is low on my list of ways to make money!
I am an active member of the local Seventh-day Adventist Church in Wisconsin Rapids.
I have many hobbies, but the main ones are writing, reading, genealogy, photography, traveling, playing Scrabble and spending time with my family.
For the friends stopping by, you will notice a big change in the looks of the site, and some in the content. There will probably be less personal content, but hopefully more family history as we continue.
For prospective clients, you should find samples of my writing. I also do genealogical research, creative writing, personalized puzzles and speaking engagements. Please email me for fees on any of the above.
Thanks for stopping by. Please look around and feel free to sign the guest book.
